In this blog post we announce the return of some outdoor group running sessions over the Autumn and Winter months, information on our next three “RTW runners parkrun on tour” meetups and finally, group leader Joe has an offer available on his 1:1 coach-led running movement sessions.
The return of RTW runners group outdoor sessions
It has been almost 2 months since our evening outdoor group running sessions ended in Southborough and so we are pleased to announce a return of a few ad-hoc sessions later this year. The sessions over the Spring & Summer months ran from 29th March until 23rd August (a total of 21 weeks) and took place on the Ridgeway playing fields, during which time we welcomed an average of 9 people per session (sessions were limited to 12 people).
Whilst the sessions aren’t on a weekly basis, we are sure that the opportunity to run and train with others in a group setting over the coming months will provide you with something to look forward to during the colder and shorter days!
The sessions will take place on the followings dates:
- Sunday 31st October, 9-10am (Southborough)
- Sunday 28th November, 9-10am (Southborough)
- Friday 24th December, 8:30-9:30am (Dunorlan Park)
- Friday 31st December, 8:30-9:30am (Dunorlan Park)
If you wish to attend any of the above sessions then please be sure to book in advance via our RunTogether groups page. Each session is limited to 12 people at a cost of £5 per person and will be led by Endurance Running Coach, Joe Watts.
RTW runners – parkrun on tour
At rather short notice, we invited RTW runners to join group leader Joe Watts and run leader Claire Henry at Bedgebury Pinetum parkrun for their event on Saturday 11th September. A summary of the results are as follows:
Claire finished in a time of 25:37, having run 25:33 the week before and going on to run 25:31 the following week (29th September) – very consistent; group leader Joe ran 19:19 for his fastest time at a parkrun in 3 years; whilst Madeleine Welch finished in a time of 32:33, which, at the time was her fastest parkrun of the year. Madeleine has however, since gone on to better that with a 31:08 at Kingdom parkrun (18th September) and then 30:58 at Uckfield parkrun (16th October).
In addition to the above, Madeleine also completed her very first marathon on 26th September at the Goodwood Festival of running in a very respecteble time of 5:44.16, which placed her 5th in her age category and 13th female. You can see her finish line photo at the header of this blog post.
We invite you to join us at the upcoming parkrun events for an RTW runners reunion:
- Saturday 6th November – Tonbridge parkrun
- Saturday 4th December – Kingdom parkrun (Penshurst)
- Saturday 1st January 2022 – Royal Tunbridge Wells parkrun
If you haven’y yet attended a parkun, these events take place each Saturday at 9am and are free to enter – just register once in advance via the parkrun uk website, print ouy your individual barcode and bring this along each time in order to receive a finish time. All ages (4+) and abilities are welcome – walk, jog, run or volunteer!
1:1 coach-led running movement sessions – special offer available to club members
Joe has been providing 1:1 running movement skills sessions for a few years now, with the sessions designed to improve the running technique of the individual. This improvement in technique will help to improve your balance, coordination and speed, which in turn will reduce injury risk.
Joe is currently offering RTW runners members with a special introductory offer – receive a 50% discount on your first session and receive a 25% discount when booking your next 5 sessions. Individual sessions usually cost £40 and therefore a total saving of £70 is available to members – enough to buy a new pair of running shoes!
Please note that availability is limited, so if you would like to make an enquiry or take up this special offer (perhaps an early Christmas present?!) then please send an e-mail to email@example.com
