Welcome to our second weekly roundup for 2020! The weekend of 14th and 15th March saw many of our runners at parkruns, racing or putting in some miles for our team in the Vitality Running World Cup!

Saturday: Endurancelife 10km Birling Gap – Seven Sisters
Sunday: The Moyleman Relay, Lewes – South Downs

Vitality Running World Cup:
A big well done to the 11 members of team RTW runners who were representing United Kingdom and contributed almost 300km of running during the preliminary round and which helped the UK to progress to the last 16 of the competition. The UK were then drawn against Egypt and, as I write this on Tuesday 17th March I am pleased to announce that the UK progressed through to the quarter finals and will be up against Romania! Qualifying runs over the weekend of 21st and 22nd March will count towards the United Kingdom’s total, so be sure to get out and put some miles in.
Training this week:
A big shout out to this week’s Monday night all abilities group of Matt Parrett, Harry O’Driscoll and Richard Woodfield who each completed a 25 minute interval session in wet and windy conditions!
Last week also saw the return of our popular “Beginners plus” group, with no less than 7 in attendance. Run leader Claire Henry led the group on a 30 minute continuous jog with a 5 minute walk warm-up and cool down either side.
In light of the recent Coronavirus pandemic, it is with regret that we have had to cancel all upcoming group events for the remainder of March and April 2020. We await further guidance from both the Government and England Athletics as to when we can return, but we hope for all of our sakes that it is not too far away.
