Since the lockdown restrictions were eased in England on 1st June 2020, we have had the pleasure of delivering outdoor group running sessions for groups of up to 5 people. A further easing on 17th July allowed us to increase group sizes to 12 people per run leader / coach so long as a Covid-19 secure environment could be provided for the safety of everyone involved, otherwise group sizes would be limited to 5 per run leader /coach.
With this in mind, we have taken the decision to continue our evening outdoor group running sessions until Monday 7th September as the evenings will still be light enough for us to make use of the playing fields in both Southborough and Forest Row. You can now book on to all of our remaining evening sessions via our RunTogether groups page.
Our plan after this date will be to provide two outdoor weekday morning group sessions in Forest Row (Tuesday and Thursday) over the Autumn and Winter months, where we can continue to make use of the playing fields and therefore, guarantee a Covid-19 secure environment and social distancing between runners.
Of course, at this time, no one knows exactly how the virus will behave in the colder weather and this uncertainty has led to our decision not to provide evening sessions over the colder and darker months where we would be restricted to footpaths and roads which are both not an ideal environment for social distancing between runners and the general public.
In addition to the outdoor group sessions, we shall continue with our popular virtual/remote running groups, with three options available:
- All abilities – interval sessions for runners of all ages (12+).
- Beginners “Zero to 30” – 8 weeks from zero running to 30 minutes.
- Beginners Plus, for graduates of our “Zero to 30” or “Couch to 5k”.
If you have yet to join our virtual groups, here is a quick summary of what is included in the weekly £5 cost – a session plan with coaching points, a weekly virtual group catch-up with group leader Joe Watts via Zoom, the ability to complete the weekly session at a time and day which suits you.
Our next virtual “Zero to 30” group is scheduled to commence on Monday 7th September with a Beginners Plus group starting immediately upon the completion of the 8 weeks.
All of the virtual groups will continue to roll on throughout the Autumn and Winter months.
Finally, we are pleased to announce that further to the success of our first two RTW runners virtual running challenges, these too will continue through the Autumn and Winter, with our next event scheduled for the bank holiday weekend in August (Saturday 29th – Monday 31st August).
