Vitality Big Half – 1st March 2020


The group has kindly been provided with a handful of charity places at The Vitality Big Half, courtesy of RTW runner, Helen Sanson. Helen is the Director of the Tower Hamlets Education Business Partnership charity. The East London-based charity work with employers and schools to increase social mobility by building young people’s confidence, improving their skills and raising aspirations for the future – more details about the charity and the work that they provide can be found on their website.

In exchange for a free place, all Helen is asking is for some fundraising (suggested minimum of £200 per runner) which will go directly to the charity in order to help them to provide their services.

If you are not confident of being able to cover the half marathon distance alone then there is the option to enter relay teams of 4 people. We have the opportunity to enter 1 or 2 teams.

Relay changeover points

The first runner starts with all of The Vitality Big Half runners, with changeover points at the locations listed below:

  • Leg One: The Start, Tower Bridge to Heron Quays, Canary Wharf (3.5 miles/5.6km)
    Changeover One Location: Pavement outside south western corner of Jubilee Park (closest station Canary Wharf)
     
  • Leg Two: Heron Quays, Canary Wharf to Ropemakers Field, Narrow Street (1.2 miles/1.9km)
    Changeover Two: Gravelled area in the south western corner of Ropemakers Field (closest stations Limehouse and Westferry)
     
  • Leg Three: Narrow Street to Rupack Street, Rotherhithe (4 miles/6.4km)
    Changeover Three Location: Grass area next to bus stop on westbound carriageway (closest stations Rotherhithe and Bermondsey)
     
  • Leg Four: Rupack Street to The Finish, Cutty Sark (4.5 miles)

The race route will go through four London boroughs: Southwark, Lewisham, Tower Hamlets and Greenwich.
